Year #2!

Fernando found and sent me this photo last month:

The photograph, entitled "Invisible House in Staten Island," is by filmmaker Lynn Sachs and can be found on her website here.
Yes, that is our house.
Happy 2nd Re-Birthday House! I'm glad you no longer look like a giant bush with roof.

  1. Wow!! That's pretty amazing. Do you know how long ago the "bush with roof" photo was taken? Did your house have that standing seam roof when you bought it?

  3. Anna,
We had that exact roof when we bought it. It was the first thing we replaced after buying. The top of the roof was asphalt tile and the standing seam roof was only on the sides.
Judging from my neighbor's overgrown boxwood hedge, I'm guessing the photo is at least 15 years old. As you can see in the current photo, their hedge is now perfect.

    Ingrida,
The photo reminds me of Grey Gardens, when Little Edie compares the grounds to a sea of leaves. Truly scary.

  4. Incredible - it looked like one of James Griffioen's "feral houses" up in Detroit...
